With the HD DVD and Blu-ray war recently ending in a victory for the blue team, we all thought things would settle down in the world of High Def and format wars. But we couldn’t have been more wrong. Enter the boys in red: RED Digital Cinema.
RED is going to offer three revolutionary cameras with an innovative new CMOS sensor: the Mysterium X™, shooting at a 3k, 4k, and a monstrous 5k resolution. Getting a hard time putting that into perspective are we? Just check the image below; High Def trembles in comparison to RED’s resolutions. And that’s just the intro.

We haven’t even mentioned all the extras in their spec list. All we have to do is wait for the REDvolution in 2009, cough up the $17,500 for the 5k EPIC and make sure that future display able to play these insane resolutions will fit our house.
