Art. Lebedev was founded in 1995 by Artemy Lebedev. To this day it is the single biggest privately held company in Russia, housing a staff over 170. They handle all things design; ranging from industrial-and graphic design to web design and interface engineering.
In the Western world Art. Lebedev is most famous for its Optimus Maximus prototype. This tactile keyboard housed small screens in each key, making for a completely customisable keyboard layout, adaptive to user input or running application.
became one of the most anticipated products of the last years. But before its final developments Art. Lebedev issued more than one prototype in, what is now know as, the Optimus product line.
In the time Art. Lebedev worked on their Optimus Maximus prototype, they launched their first product, acting as a tester for future product releases. This product, dubbed the Optimus Mini Three, is the world’s first keyboard with OLED screens
It acts as an auxiliary keyboard-addition and provides accommodation for three clickable 20 x 20 mm OLED screens with a resolution of 96 x 96 pixels. The user is able to choose what static or animated visual is displayed on each screen and what control is given to said key when pressed. An addition is the functionality of having it synced to your regular keyboard, thus its current layout changes when modifier keys (Ctrl, Shift, Alt and their combinations) are pressed.
The Optimus Mini Three V2.0 is now shipping and updated with RSS support. It is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. Just imagine what types of control you can add to your workspace.
